Who I am
Who I am
Hello, I'm Cecile Andreas. I spent 30 years as a family physician before transitioning to coaching in 2014. Throughout my medical career, I worked to optimize clinical practice and navigate leadership within complex healthcare systems. I understand healthcare from the inside, having lived the complexity and knowing what it means to care deeply about this work.
For more than a decade now, I've been working with healthcare professionals across Canada - physicians, nurses, and clinical leaders - as they navigate the unique challenges of leading and thriving in healthcare.
My approach
The most powerful coaching happens when I trust what's already there - your wisdom, your imagination, your capacity to navigate complexity. Questions unlock that. Not because I have the answers, but because the right questions create space for you to see what you couldn't quite see before.
This approach is grounded in positive psychology, values, and strengths-based coaching. Sustainable leadership matters - for you and for the system you're working to strengthen.
What I do
Most of my days are spent in conversations - with physicians figuring out what sustainable practice looks like, with coaches exploring what showed up in their sessions, with teams working through how they want to work together. I teach executive coaching at Royal Roads University and lead the Coaching and Mentoring Program (CAMP) at UBC RCPD. Both roles keep me learning - from new coaches discovering what makes coaching work, and from experienced physicians navigating the reality of rural practice.
A few years ago, I got curious about whether coaching actually helps physicians - not theoretically, but measurably. The research confirmed what I'd been seeing: it does. That matters, because this work is too important to rest on good intentions alone. My Master's research focused on this question, and I continue to contribute to the evidence base for coaching in healthcare.
I hold the Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential with the International Coaching Federation - the highest level of coaching certification, earned through rigorous evaluation of actual coaching skill, not just hours logged. I also completed a Master's degree in Executive and Organizational Coaching from Royal Roads University, where my research focused on coaching and physician wellbeing in Canada.
Outside of work
I live in Cranbrook, a small mountain town in the Canadian Rockies. I'm a lifelong learner and spend much of my time reading about coaching, leadership, and what makes for meaningful work. When I'm not coaching, you'll find me outside - on foot or on my bike, usually with a dog or two in tow.
